Hi All,
Just a quick survey. I would like to know which locations suits you best for MUET class.
(At the moment, all MUET classes are conducted in Cheras)
Many students called or text me about not being able to join the MUET class because they don't have transport or that cheras is too far.
Please email me at joline.tang@hotmail.com
In your email please tell me 2 things:
Copy and paste the questions below.
1) Which location suits you best? Cheras / Petaling Jaya / Shah Alam / Gombak / Taman Melawati/ wangsa Maju etc (Locations like Malacca, Seremban, Pahang, not within Selangor and KL are not possible for now)
2) What day and time suits you best? Weekday night at 7: 45 to 9:45 pm twice a week or Saturday at 11 to 3pm?
The most popular locations and time will be taken into consideration.
So, do write in and tell me before I set the schedule and place for the next intake.
Thanks.

All the best Feb/March MUET candidates!
Last Sunday, completed my last MUET lesson for the Feb/March candidates. This time around it was 138 candidates. You guys have worked hard and it was intense! Hope all your efforts pay off.
Remember to relax and chill this week. No point stressing unnecessarily at this point. You guys already know what to do. You have been eating, breathing and dreaming about MUET since our class in December 2012/ January 2013.
Get your stationery, ID and slip ready on Friday. Start sleeping well from Thursday onwards cause you might be too excited to sleep on Friday night : )
Finally, all the best to all Feb/March MUET candidates. Give it your all this Saturday.
Just a quick reminder to my MUET students.
For listening, remember to predict as many answers as possible. Write down possible answers by the side, don't worry about trying to fit the exact words or fret about spelling yet. You have time to consider that later.
For reading, remember to skim and scan for answers, KEY WORDS are crucial. It helps you keep focus rather then reading the entire passage, it's a waste of precious time.
For writing, remember to allocate time accordingly, for task 1, remember to plan as we do in class, and write in the format you've learned in class. For task 2, remember to look for the general subject and specific task in order to intepret the question accurately and plan according to the structure you've learned as well.
All the best, waiting to hear good news from all of you when the results are out.
Hope when you guys call, text or email me, you guys would be in university pursuing your law, medicine, business, IT, biotechnology degrees. As for those, who need Band 3 or 4 to graduate from university, I hope you'll be calling from your new job.

Part 1: 4 MUST-KNOWs / Tips for MUET Speaking
Speaking! The fun part of MUET. With a little know-how and practice, this part of the test can be ACED!
Here are 4 MUST-KNOWs / Tips for Speaking.
must know #1: The speaking test is quite predictable.
Why do I say so? It's because the structure is fixed so you'll know what to expect in the test and you can practice for it.
must know #2: There are 2 parts; the individual turn and the group interaction.
Students will be grouped into groups of 3 or 4 candidates. You will be given time to prepare your answers. Use this preparation time wisely.
must know #3: Keep it simple.
Don't start long and complicated sentences if you don't know how to finish them. Keep your sentences simple and words understandable.
must know #4: Remember to breathe.
Whenever you feel nervous, uncomfortable, uneasy during the test for any reason, remember to take a deep breath and then focus on the question. If you allow your fear to build up, panic or going blank, might set in. So, remember to breathe and gather your thoughts. Don't worry about pausing for a minute during the test.
This is post 1 on the speaking test; just a little introduction. Look out for my next post, where i'll expain a little more about the different sections of the speaking test.

4 Simple Steps: How to answer MUET Writing Task 1
Step 1: Read the question and instructions carefully. What is the question about? How many words required and how much time do you have?
Step 2: Plan your essay. Label the charts for easy reference and make notes on the charts.
There are 3 pie charts, you MUST compare them. The total student population pie chart is the base, you compare the undergraduates to all students and then postgraduates to undergrates and all students.
Use the relevant target vocabulary to descibe the pie charts, i.e. majority, minority, one third etc
Step 3: Write it. Write in paragraphs.
Step 4: Check your answer. Make sure its between 150 to 200 words.
You are advised to spend 40 minutes on
this task.
The pie charts below show the number of hours spent in a Malaysian university library by undergraduates, postgraduates, and the total student population over the past year.
Summarise the information by selecting
and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
Write between 150 to 200 words.
